Spirit: ‘Only in the Holy Spirit will we reach the point of becoming gods, the likenesses of God’.2 Thus, it is the Holy Spirit who enables us to gain the qualities which Eastern Christendom associates with deification. This action of the Holy Spirit in granting deification to people is a function of God’s grace.
